Game sound not working through s/pdif, but other windows sounds work fine. How do i fix?

Just installed new graphics card, ASUS en9500 gt. Needed to connect s/pdif in order to carry sound through hdmi output. Audio works great for videos and other windows sounds, but there is no audio whenever I try to play games. Obviously checked the in-game settings, which were fine. Any help?|||Sound card driver is broken......|||I think it may be poor contact or broken by the sound card.
