What is the best game on addicting games?
I am always bored and i love addicting games, but i feel like i played every game! Do you know any good games? I dont like shooting games, and i prefer the games withoout the bomb next to them.|||Age of War, it never gets old (Well it isn't really old!) I always complete the game, but I always go back on it. How many cards and game pieces should the 1993 Risk Game have?
I bought the board game from a yard sale and was told they believed it to be complete. Is there anyway for me to check. I cannot find out how many armies, infantry etc pieces there should be. Thank you!|||I think I have the '93 version. Mine has 72 cards, 1 for each country (so 42 in all), 2 wild, and 28 missions. I'm not sure how many of each army piece there should be, I guarantee that if it has ever been played before it's not entirely complete. Those dang little pieces have a way of hiding in the most obscure places. I have lost about half of the pieces to my game, but it's still playable. Just combine different colors or use little pieces of paper or pieces from a different game. It won't look as cool but at least you can play a game.

How does the Godfather game compare to the movies in terms of violence?
Is the Godfather Game more or less violent than the movies. I want to get the game and I have already seen the movies. But my mom says that it is probably too violent. Game theory is, briefly, the idea that two options are presented to a decision-maker. One option is higher risk because it could either be a lot better than the second option or a lot worse. Whereas the second option is the safer option because it does not offer the worst outcome but at the same time does not offer the best possible outcome.|||there is barely any difference between "new" labour and the conservatives, they are both right-wing parties!|||It could work. Thanks.|||Some 5 year olds in my family enjoy playing with poker chips. Spread a few out on the table, and ask the child to give you say 4 blue chips and two green ones etc. I even try this in another language and they can still do it.
Or there's what I call pairs. With a pack of playing cards (just the numerical ones, not Kings Queens or Jacks) lay them out face down in rows. The child then has two turn two cards face up, if the cards match (two threes for example) then he/she keeps the trick. If they don't match, then they are replaced face down where they were. this becomes a memory test as well as number association. Depending on the age of the kid then you could use all the cards, or insist that he pairs both red threes and not a red/black combination.
For the over tens, games like Monopoly involve a lot of numeracy especially if the child is the banker.|||Darts involves a lot of subtraction, and can improve numeracy. All sorts of variations are possible, like bigger throwing games in the park with a ball and different numbers written on bits of card ('first to a total of 100', or etc). The details could be varied to suit just about any age group.
Orienteering uses 'practical numeracy'; even if distances and angles aren't being measured, the activity makes you estimate how far you are from different landmarks, and weigh up the benefits and problems that would arise from using taking different routes. Again, there are different ways of organising the activity so that it can be enjoyed by any age group, or by all members of a family team.
A less active numeracy game is Cribbage. Most card games involve a degree of number-work, but this is particularly important in cribbage, where the card values in a hand are first combined in a kind of 'trading auction', and then re-combined with an extra card. Simplified versions can be devised so that children and young people can practice some of the same mental skills; this might involve dealing fewer cards, or setting easier scoring combinations.

I was thinking the other day about Chun Li in the Street Fighter games. She was really a rather breakthrough character, in that she was the first one (so far as I know) to be a hero rather than damsel. Moreover, she was not created as an inferior fighter to the males. Of the 8 original characters, she was the fastest fighter (hence the one I was the best at till I got to play Vega.)
Contrast this with video games in the early 80s. Any females would either be nonexistant or objects to be rescued--a trend that continued well after Chun Li in some cases. I never thought of women as lessers, as a child. I know some people have strong female role models in their real life, but I didn't, and not everyone else did either. Sometimes stories are all you have to go by.
So how important do you think this is anyway? For all those kids who have no other strong woman in their world, how much difference do you think a video game character can make?|||I think it can make a huge difference. As someone who plays video games like crazy, I know about the hours one can invest into it. RPGs, for instance, can take up to 80 hours of game play, and most RPGs in the last 10-15 years have had plenty of strong female characters, usually fully dressed, even though the primary lead character is male most of the time. For instance, right now I'm playing Xenosaga, and about half the playable characters so far are female or female looking androids, only one of which really shows any flesh.
Other games I like such as the Resident Evil series and Parasite Eve have strong female lead characters who definitely look hot but are dressed reasonably and can kick ***. For instance, Aya Brea from Parasite Eve is a New York City police detective who looks good but her outfit is basically jeans, t-shirt, and a leather jacket.
So these days, you can have a video game that satisfies my "horny adolescent bloodlust" side without compromising the women characters involved. Everyone wins.
Unfortunately, it seems that it's the Grand Theft Auto type games that have everyone's attention (I don't mind violence in video games- nothing I enjoy more than blowing heads off zombies in RE 2- but beating up hookers is a bit sadistic for my tastes). But really, most games on the market aren't like that.

the thing about fighting game female characters is that they are always portrayed to be beautiful, thin, agile and fast. women in these games never get to be heavy hitters, and they're always ballerina-like, with acrobatic moves and dance worthy choreography.
Street fighter 3 third strike did have Makoto, the boyish looking young girl who packs a wallop. But fast, weak, and pretty characters like Xianghua, Sophitia, and Talim (soul calibur) far outnumber these exceptions.
we all know how popular (and profitable) games are, but they are not the only source of socialization for young people. women can be objectified in any form of entertainment. i don't think this is unique to video games.

What is a better game, the original Carcassonne or Carcassonne hunters and gatherers?
I've played carcassonne hunter and gatherers, but I've never played the original game with towns and roads. I know the original has a lot of expansions, too. Both games are the same idea too right? What is a better buy?|||As a sales representative for Rio Grande Games and as an instructor, I can tell you from experience that Hunters %26amp; Gatherers is the easiest version of Carcassonne to teach because it has the fewest rules and restrictions. H%26amp;G has no expansions. However, anyone who is familiar with any version of Carcassonne will be confortable with any variation. Enjoy the game!|||Seems like they are the same game, bud. In my Georgia Tech dorm my buddies and I play Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Nintendo Wii. However reacently the Nintendo Wii Sensor broke, so we cannot seclect the game we wish to play. Is there a way to go directly to the game?
PS. We can play the game without the sensor, just cannot seclect to start the game...

If you own Guitar Hero 3, the analog stick on the controller can move the cursor around. Also if you own a Classic Controller, it's analog stick (the left one) can move the cursor to select your game.
Another riskier (fire hazard) way to solve this problem is set up 2 candles where the ends of the sensor bar would be. It's proven to work.

How good can video game graphics can possibly get?
What if in the future you bought a sims game. You got the right hardware and everything for it; but when you turn it on. The graphics are so real you cannot tell the difference between real life (like seeing something in real life) Would you still play it?
Do you think they should put a limit on how "real" a game can look? Or even simulate? What is your view on this?|||Sims wont ever have a game like that, those games arent made for detail. It would be a different game, not nothing gay like the sims. If there was a game with graphics that good, i'd play it, but if it was a good game though. How do i become a video game designer?
I've been looking at school that offer game design programs but they are all pricey and I fear that I will not be able to afford going to those schools. Games are my passion and I would truly appreciate any tips on how to get towards a career in video games without having to spend lots and lots of money.|||entering game design doesn't require game design school programs exactly in fact many people in game design start in graphic design, where they learn how to make their own graphics and CG. If anything find a cheap school with a program for graphic design branch out to game design while in that class then try to transfer to a better school preferably one with a game design class.|||You're going to have to think hard about this, because the days of "a video game designer" are dead and gone. Back in the day one or two guys would sit down in front of an Apple II or a PC and spend a month working on a game doing everything from programming to graphics to debugging to the box art. It doesn't work that way any more, and saying "I want to be a video game designer" is like saying "I want to make movies." Look at the credits on a movie or game. Which of those guys do you want to be? A producer? A technical director? Effects programmer? Artist? Modeler? Texture artist? Scenic? Level Designer? Sound? See where I'm going?
Until you decide what role you want to play you can't even begin deciding what direction to move in. Physics programmers need to study math, 3D artists need sculpture backgrounds, Producers need to know everything from business to the theories behind why people play games. There are a million different ways to go and you have to start narrowing your field. See how every other person who has answered the question has their own idea about what "game designers" do? It doesn't do you any good to show up for an interview knowing the job description of every possible position in the industry when the very first question the person asks is "so, what do *you* do?" Find your spot and get very, very good at it. Good luck.|||Learn computer programming, especially C++ and Visual Basic.

When you get into college, major in computer programming.
Try to get internships during the summers or even co-ops at video game studios.

The only other way you are going to be able to start on the top is to come up with a great video game while you are still in school.|||Well try to get the attention of gaming companies. Brainstorm a game, focus on controls first then plot and try to get a presentation with a company. If they like the game your in, with access to lots of equipment and stuff. The game(s) you present to them most likely will be changed though in the final outcome. I would highly recommend a college first even if its not a good college, at least you have something. Another thing, I see video gaming as a secondary as its not an easy job to get. I would get another job so you can get a roof over your head and save money to go to a good video gaming college. I am planning on buying a new harvest moon game for my ds. The only other harvest moon game i've played is it's a wonderful life for gamecube but i really liked it. The way to buy things for the farm is over the phone now, in ds cute you can by the decor for your house, like the paint and rug. unlike in wonderful life where you start out with a horse you only start out with a cat and dog.
other things on the game are the same but in this you can hire harvest sprites to help you work the farm. they can fish, feed the animals you buy later, water your plants, pet the animals and milk the cows and gather eggs and even chop wood and gather stone.
your mission in Harvest Moon Ds and Ds cute, is to save the harvest sprites to rescue the harvest goddess who was turned to stone and the sprites sent into another world. by working every day and meeting certain requirements you save harvest sprites who then help you out. You also have a level on your farm degree.
of course as in each harvest moon game you can court and get married and have a family, this is basically the same but with new characters since you are in a new place. they have likes and dislikes and the ultimate favorite and the most hated. You trigger different heart events at different levels which is indicated by the heart Gage on the side of the bachelor/鈥achelorettes picture.

The way to buy things for the farm is over the phone now, in ds cute you can by the decor for your house, like the paint and rug. unlike in wonderful life where you start out with a horse you only start out with a cat and dog.
other things on the game are the same but in this you can hire harvest sprites to help you work the farm. they can fish, feed the animals you buy later, water your plants, pet the animals and milk the cows and gather eggs and even chop wood and gather stone.
your mission in Harvest Moon Ds and Ds cute, is to save the harvest sprites to rescue the harvest goddess who was turned to stone and the sprites sent into another world. by working every day and meeting certain requirements you save harvest sprites who then help you out. You also have a level on your farm degree.
of course as in each harvest moon game you can court and get married and have a family, this is basically the same but with new characters since you are in a new place. they have likes and dislikes and the ultimate favorite and the most hated. You trigger different heart events at different levels which is indicated by the heart Gage on the side of the bachelor/鈥achelorettes picture.

i saw an option to download a game to my 360's hard drive.
i was wondering, does the game still work after downloading it, like the actual disc.
and could i play the disc on a different system?

I have learnt to play a plastic guitar really well with guitar hero - what a waste! How long before a game should you eat a small meal?
I have a big game at 4:00 today. It's a soccer game, so there will be a lot of running. What time should I eat a small meal to give myself energy?
And does anyone have suggestions on what to eat?|||you should do the same thing a lot of runners do. carb up the night before your games. pasta dinners are great and cheap...have a couple of the guys from the team over, cook up a couple plates of pasta, and watch some movies, or something (you don't even have to make the pasta sauce, just buy some healthy ones from the store...so no alfredo, or mac 'n cheese, etc.). tomato sauce with vegetables is a great choice. aside from a generally healthy diet i think that's probably the best way to prep for your game. carb up the night before, and then have something about an hour or two before your game...i always tried to eat something that was easy to put together like a salad with a homemade vinaigrette because that's healthier than store-bought, and then maybe add some chicken or pork in for a light, and fairly lean cut of meat. let that sit awhile, and then do your usual stretches before the game, and maybe get a 1/4 mile jog for a warmup. aside from that i'd say keep a liter of water with you for the game to drink on any breaks you have on the bench. carbing up the night before, a light meal an hour or two beforehand, and hydration during the game should be a great combo to keep you going on the field. best of luck in your game man.|||eat 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours before and eat light like chicken and a salad with fruit and tons of water. You could eat pasta the night before to maximize the benefit you would get from the carbs. And dont drink an energy drink it wont last through the first half. What is that computer game where you're a mouse collecting cheese while avoiding cats?
It's an old game I used to play it on my grandfathers computer years ago. It's a green playing screen and they put you (the mouse) and cheese and cats and blocks for you to push around to make a safe area so the cats can't get in. What game is the best for designing custom levels?
I have HL2 but you can't really make large open spaces and dense grass and foliage. Is there any game engine that is more suitable and relatively easy to get into?|||Halo 3 if you have balnk maps of Sandbox.

What is the C64 game in which user enters commands and there is a robot that chases you?
I remember playing a game in which you start out on a road and you see a robot. You enter commands like "pick up the rock." If you enter something crazy is uses the word "absurd" in some form. If I recall correctly, there are no graphics involved in the gameplay. How should I start writing a game review?
I have my own youtube channel and I would like to dedicate it to making video game reviews, since I have so many video games at home. I'm not really sure what I should start making the review on. Like I know its suppose to be on video games, but I want mine to be something different and more interesting. What are the main points of a review?|||For a video game review, there is no set criteria for review. Each review must be tailored to the question: What is the game trying to do and does it succeed?
A few things that most reviewers touch on, though is:
Graphics
Plot (very general, this includes characters, events, symbols, everything)
Sound
Load Times
Glitches/Problems
Layout/controls
Gameplay
All contribute significantly to what the game accomplishes. Try to focus in on Gameplay and Plot, though; those are the two big ones in most games.

What is a good board game to get my roommates for Christmas?
My roommates and I like to play board games when we're bored or to take a break from all of our school work. We found a really wacky game called Careers and we're absolutely in love! So I want to get them some out of the ordinary but super fun board games for Christmas. Any good suggestions?|||Telepaths is a great game to play. Make as many dots as you want; the bigger, the longer the game.
So anyways, the game works by each of you taking turns connecting adjacent dots (horizontal or vertical.) You take turns doing this and when one of you connects 4 lines that make a box, you write your initials in it and add a point to your score. After filling in a box, you get one extra turn to connect a dot. The game ends once all of the boxes have been filled and whoever has filled in the most boxes wins!
Its fun if you have a few friends playing with you.

How long does the Darksiders game take to install?
I just got this game, opened the setup and it started installing. It's still at the "extracting files" stage and it's been longer then an hour, I think about two hours or so. When I look at the free space of the hdd it keeps adding and removing free space (mostly removing as the folder grows). Just how long is this game's installment supposed to take? I recently purchased The Sims 2 Double Deluxe computer game. I was wondering, is there is anyway, after you install it on the PC, to transfer that installed data on my netbook? What type of game explains a poem while involving others in the lesson?
I can't seem to get my creative juices flowing at the moment, and I need to come up with some sort of simple-ish game that can explain a poem( who the speaker is, tone/mood, summary, theme, symbolism, ect), but the game has to invlove a class of students. I was thinking throwing a ball or having food rewards, but I don't know what I would do to teach the lesson|||It all depends on the age of your students. However, try this: put all the elements you want to discuss into a hat/box/can and pass this to one of your students...they pull out the piece of paper and read the element (tone, summary, theme, form, etc.) then try to answer the question. If they can't answer it, the paper is passed to the next student, and the next, until someone can answer it. If nobody can answer it, the original student keeps the piece of paper and the can moves to the next student...after the teacher explains the answer...if one of the students answers the question, they keep the paper and pull out the next one. The game continues until all the pieces of paper are gone, and the winner (soda, apple, whatever) is the one with the most pieces of paper. This can be modified so anyone with a piece of paper get a prize, a star, whatever, and many poems can be used to increase the number of pieces of paper. The winner may result from several days worth of gaming, or each day. Also, after each question has been answered, the teacher would provide amplification on the answer provided by the student along with explanations as to how that part contributes to the overall nature of the poem. Oh...and of course, the can gets refilled for each poem.

How do you play a game that is downloaded using Bitlord and Bittorent?
Now, I have fully downloaded the game and all the files are in a folder on my computer. I have extracted the files using Winrar. I have the game on an icon on my desktop. When i try to click it, it doesn't work. So, how can i get the game to work? Am I supposed to put something on a Cd? Can i just play it directly off the computer? What is the secret to accurately recording your chess game in competition?
I played a few tournament games a long time ago. I kept track of the games in chess notation. I made a lot of mistakes writing the moves down, and some of my games were unreadable. I don't have a photographic memory of games I play, so it is sometimes hard to figure out what I did. What can I do to improve my ability to accurately record the game while under the pressure of competition and a clock?|||As RH said, just keep doing it. That's the only way to get better. i believe there's no 'secret' in this , the more you play and record , the more you get used to doing it. perhaps one of the things that requires little more attention is if two same pieces could move onto the same square . Eg. if both rooks(on a1 and f1) could move to e1 , take care not to write it as simply Re1 .

We have never owned a video game console and are looking for one that would be best for young kids and adults. How to get started in board game industry?
Quite simply, I like playing board games. It's what I did growing up. It's what I do with my friends now. I'd like to work on designing board games / card games / party games. How can I find an entry level position in the board game/toy industry, working on concept, development, and overall game designe (or working toward that end)?
I graduated in 2005 with Journalism and Philosophy bachelor's degrees. I currently work in televison, with no professional board game design experience. Please note: I'm not asking about video game design or software development, unless that's a path to board game work.|||A great place to ask this question would be Boardgamegeek.com. That is, hands down, the place to go if you are in to boardgames.
Let me tell you though, being a boardgame designer is a little like wanting to be an artist. It might make you happy, but it's unlikely to earn you a living.
Not that you can't do it, but there are a lot of talented boardgame designers out there who are barely making a living at it, or doing it as a hobby and still have a real job as well.
Still, if this is something that you're passionate about, give it a a shot. You might be able to do something with it.|||If you want to become successful in the field of game creation, you should try to contact people who are already successes in the creation of new games. Go to gaming conventions and similar venues and see if game creators will share their secrets with you. Even if you have to treat them to a $50 per plate meal to get their one-on-one input, that is the best way to go. Getting the straight talk from the horse's mouth, so to speak, is far better input than you will ever get from anyone else. Be prepared with a list of questions, and get right to the point. Important people usually don't like to waste their time in idle chit-chat.
After you know what game design involves, you need to sit down and decide for yourself whether making a living creating new board games and card games is really right for you. It is very hard work, and involves a lot of time and effort. You will need to not only create unique games, but playtest them, get input from your playtesters, tweak your games to get rid of their quirks, playtest them again, and so on. If you still decide game creation is your destiny, you will need to create and playtest several games, and get them ready for marketing. You don't necessarily have to print up full-color game boards and implements, but it helps. Be prepared to pitch some of your more mediocre creations to different game companies, making sure you keep the best of your creations for later.
Once you are ready, make contact with the game manufacturers to whom you want to pitch your games. You may need some input and assistance from the successful game creators you talked to previously, or maybe they need to hand-carry your games to different companies. (Asking the game creators for input on your games, and offering them a portion of your profits for their time might not hurt anything either.) Give the companies two or three different examples of your handiwork, free of charge. This may sound like charity, but it's the best way to get your foot in the door. Let them know there are plenty more ideas where these came from, and that you are interested in working with them to the benefits of all involved.

Try writing a letter or email to the corporate headquarters of Milton Bradley or other game manufacturers. I think a lot of new games are being developed in Germany but I'm sure there are several manufacturers in the US.
Another tactic you could try is doing an internet search on board game designers and see if you can find any bios on them. See what kind of education they have. You might even be able to find an email address for one of them and try corresponding with them. It can be suprising how willing people are to talk to you when you show an interest in the topic they are passionate about.

Let me tell you though, being a boardgame designer is a little like wanting to be an artist. It might make you happy, but it's unlikely to earn you a living.
Not that you can't do it, but there are a lot of talented boardgame designers out there who are barely making a living at it, or doing it as a hobby and still have a real job as well.
Still, if this is something that you're passionate about, give it a a shot.
