With thousands of video games existing today, what is your step by step method and process for choosing which game to pick up, buy, and then play?
Please include what is the weight for any and all deciding factors for each trait. The more detail you include in your game consideration equation will determine the more likely you will get the best answer vote.|||When I see a game I usually check the information and the reviews to see if it's any good. |||As soon as a particular game enters my awareness, I begin my quest for investment decision by researching various web sites (game spot, game pro, gamefaqs, wikipedia, IGN, game trailers, and more)
Usually I then move on to comparing that particular game with my game playing history. Does this game remind me of another game i played? Did I like that game? What catches my attention about this game? These are but just some questions that I ask myself. I never buy a game blindly because someone else told me that they love the game. The bias is too great for me to trust that person's taste unless friends who share my same picky specific interest happens to approve in buying the game. I have 3 close friends who seem to always like the games I like.
I move on by researching the game maker's cast and crew so I can check if they made any other game that I have also enjoyed in the past. Chances are, if they were credited, I'll find who these people are eventually and learn to stick honorably with devotion to their work.
Last stage in deciding is weighing the functionality/interactivity(programming aspect), visual detail/graphics(art aspect), and story line/plot setting(design aspect). Some games may have an awesome story but suck in looks and control. So many players read the back and front cover of game boxes, that is probably the worst way for me to decide since companies work on that part just to sell you on the game which you have no clue how you will think about it until you play it and even then, you won't know or have a reliable opinion until you play enough of it.|||Well when I see a game on TV, the game has to have good graphics and a good plot that is shown on the TV with the advertisement. Then I'll tell my mom about it and go to the store. If I like the front cover's picture and the way it sounds on the story in the back, then I'll rent it and try it out. If its a good game then I'll buy it.
What really matters for games are the graphics, the story line, the covers picture, the story on the back, and what game console its for.It should appeal to all your senses(if possible) and it should give the player some emotion. Thats what I usually would go for. |||It all depends if I will beat the game in one day or finish it in a month. Also number 1 thing is how much is it going to cost and how much can I afford if I buy a game that isn't worth the money I might just rent a game before buying it.|||First, listen to what other people think of the game... If the general public hates it.. chances are you will too.
second, if you really don't know if you'll like it, rent it...
third, if i like it, look for it used... usually much cheaper as long as your not buying it a week after it came out...
|||i read reviews and stuff and if its near my b-day or Christmas ill ask for it
